Who We Are

If your pet is in intense pain or is very ill, taking them across New York City isn’t ideal. What other choice do you have, though? It’s not like you can count on house calls these days, especially in the veterinary industry.

At City Pets, we change that. Our in-home veterinary care in Manhattan for cats, dogs, and other pets means we come out to you, caring for your pets in any room of the home.

Our Staff

We’re led by Dr. Amy Attas, who also created City Pets. Dr. Attas is a veterinary professional who studied at Barnard College and then the University of Pennsylvania. With her veterinary degree and master’s in animal behavior, Dr. Attas entered the professional world, starting at New York’s Animal Medical Center as an intern.

She was eventually made a full-time employee, but Dr. Attas had different career aspirations for herself. She wanted to open her own veterinary clinic that could treat Manhattan pets in their homes. Hence City Pets was born.

Manhattan House Call Vet: Our Services

Just because City Pets, your Manhattan house call vet, will come out to you doesn’t mean the services list is any less comprehensive than your local veterinary clinic. Quite the opposite; City Pets has as many and sometimes more services.

These include:

  • Laser therapy with Class-IV mobile lasers for tendonitis, hip dysplasia, gum diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, degenerative joint disease, arthritis, post-surgical pain, dermatological conditions, strains, sprains, post-dental extraction discomfort, inflammation, infections, and wounds.
  • Pet euthanasia in the home for older or sick/wounded pets.
  • Pet travel certifications, which saves you time getting the important paperwork you need.
  • Microchipping via the HomeAgain Pet Recovery Service.
  • Vaccinations, including kitten and puppy booster shots, core vaccines, and non-core vaccines. You can also get your cat or dog safeguarded against rabies with a vaccination.
  • Treatment for sick pets so you don’t have to haul them to your vet’s office when they’re not feeling well.
  • Senior pet exams so these older animals don’t have to spend the day nervous about a trip to the vet.
  • Pet exams for all other animals, which include abdominal ultrasounds, echocardiograms, skin checks for bumps, intraocular pressure eye tests for glaucoma, blood pressure tests, urine color and condition tests via cystocentesis, and blood tests via venipuncture.

Whether you have a young pet or an old one, cats and dogs often get scared and anxious when they know they have to go to the vet. Sick, injured, and older pets may have a hard time getting around. That’s when it’s good to have an in-home veterinary care in Manhattan like that from City Pets.

Doctor Amy has cared, with affection, intelligence and skill, for my beloved feline companions for over 35 years! She visited our Leo for his annual check-up last week (yes, he is in wonderful shape); I always enjoy these visits; and she cares for my grown-up daughter's Romi as well. Doctor Amy and her staff are always responsive, dedicated to the health and happiness of our pets; I am very appreciative of all that CityPets does for our family, feline and human.
